Hells Yeah [Yeah [Yeahs]]
Concert: Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ The Tabernacle (Sat, Oct14, 2006)
As per usual, a very punctual and awesome-sounding show. Awesome-sounding accoustically anyways. As much as I love to support local bands, the 2nd act 'Deerhunter' did not endear themselves to me. I'm not sure if it was because their Mom's were in the audiance, or because they were high or what... I'm trying to make a point of not being negative in this medium, but man did they suck. For me. So, maybe you liked them. I respect that. I will say that I was tempted to buy their album though... but only so that the lead singer could get something to eat. Like... twelve steaks.
Fortunately Karen O and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs did not fail to deliver. Although I didn't feel as connected with this band as I have at other shows (this is hard to due someplace as huge as the Tabernacle at any rate), it rocked some serious ass. After overdosing on Roll Your Bones earlier this year, it was awesome to hear these songs again! I had forgotten some of their earlier songs, and there were plenty of those too. The show that Karen puts on lived up to the hype.... I kind of feel bad for the other band members. Does anyone ever pay attention to them while she is on stage?
Gotta love the Tabernacle... guaranteed rock n' roll by 10pm!
If only they would stop gouging me on beer.
